1-2 Student Blog: Branding: A Day in the Life

What social media platforms do you think you use the most? Does your phones screen time agree? 

I would say my most used social media platform would be Instagram and YouTube but when I look at my phone I was surprised to find that my most used social media applications were  Instagram and the PlayStation app. I was not surprised to find that Instagram was used the most frequently but I did not realize that I spent as much time as I have on the PlayStation app. I use this app to talk with my friends during the day as they play games on their PlayStation while I am in between calls at work so it makes sense that it comes up as highly used. 

Do you have positive or negative reactions when using certain types of digital media?

I would have to say that my favorite form of social media is Instagram. I mostly use Instagram to send funny videos back and forth with my friends in our group chat and it has become an amazing way for me to find new ideas for workouts as well as food preparation meals for the week that i have never tried before. I would definitely say I have a very positive reaction to Instagram as a type of digital media. 

My least favorite form of social media right now would probably have to be TikTok. While i find it funny and there are a lot of interesting videos and people on the app, I found myself mindlessly scrolling when I first downloaded the application and I wasted a lot of time that way, unfortunately.   

What do you notice about the use of digital media in marketing today?

I find digital media marketing to be one of the most persuasive marketing tactics today. While every once in a while I will come across an add or page that seems odd, I have been on social media enough within the past ten to fifteen years to know that a little research into a company page or website can go a long way. Thankfully with digital media marketing on things such as Instagram and Facebook we can just scroll down to the comment section to find out whether a marketing effort we are viewing is really true or as good as the company is saying it is.
